Former standout wrestler, Raven (ECW, WCW, WWE, TNA, ROH), was on the Skye Sports show, Wrestle Talk TV a little while ago and had a conversation with special guest host Marty Scurll and Dave Bradshaw about what the legacy of ECW was. One of innovation and positivity or one of garbage wrestling and violence?
Raven made some interesting points and I urge you to watch this video first then leave your comments below.

Raven just shit all over Dave.. haha. For real though, Raven seems smug as hell, but I really think his points are all valid. ECW was a good launching pad for the young guys. They really only showed the hardcore stuff on their commercials or whatever to promote the shows. They did get a pretty good following there for awhile. As a whole, I think ECW was good for wrestling. It's a shame that WWE tarnished it the way it did though. TNA has been talking about ECW like it's an ancient civilization of hardcore gods that are SUPER HARDCORE.. but that's not all it was.

Raven totally owned that guy.
I was never a fan of ECW, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate what it gave the business. just look at all the wrestlers that got a start there.

I agree that it allowed more non-big guys to get shows. Raven was barely 6 foot and a proven headliner. But I'll say this about ECW, it conditioned fans at the time to believe in the "more is better" approach. Mike Awesome powerbombs a guy through a table in one match, next match he's gotta do something even bigger.
Much like Chris Candido's Top Rope Powerbomb. I think it was called the Blonde Bombshell.
